PacTec

PacTec has for over 13 years been instrumental in the design and licensing of nuclear packaging, including  the TRUPACT-II and the RH-72B, and an ongoing contract to supply 6 RH-72B casks directly to the DOE.

PacTec is currently developing the Mixed-oxide Fresh Fuel Package, which will be the first modern MOX fresh fuel package developed in the United States.

PacTec's analytical skills consist of specialized engineering disciplines (structures, dynamics, engineering mechanics, heat transfer, shielding and criticality, etc.) integrated to provide realistic solutions, while addressing regulatory concerns and perceptions.  PacTec blends state-of-the-art analytical methodologies with modeling techniques developed through extracted from successful design and licensing experiences.  This blend is vital to achieve acceptance of Safety Analysis Report applications by regulatory authorities.

PacTec has implemented and follows a Quality Assurance System in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 71, Subpart H.  The Quality System has been approved by the U. S. NRC; Approval Certificate Number 0250, expiration; June 30, 2005, and is included in Section 8.0.  The Quality System has been audited and approved for use by several government and commercial organizations

The Quality Assurance System includes detailed procedures for the use and performance of quality planning, design reviews, quality inspections and verifications.  It also provides direction for the inclusion of Quality requirements in procurement documentation, detection of discrepancies and their disposition and assures timely and effective corrective action.  The system is designed to facilitate assignment of specific Quality Provisions to reflect contractual and regulatory requirements in the areas of design, licensing, fabrication, operation, in-service inspection and maintenance.

PacTec and PacTec personnel have been key players in the development of  the TRUPACT II, HalfPACT and TRUPACT III packages and transport systems for movement of CH-TRU wastes to WIPP.

PacTec participated in the development of the legal weight RH-TRU transportation cask (72B cask) including certification support of the 72B cask design and fabrication of the first (6) 72B casks.

PacTec’s technical achievements since its founding in 1989 reflect a continuing, strong commitment and the proven capability to provide the DOE with state-of-the-art solutions to its radioactive material transportation, handling and packaging needs.  The company is a recognized industry expert, having secured more than thirty separate USNRC Certificates of Compliance.  PacTec is currently developing the Mixed-oxide Fresh Fuel Package, which will be the first modern MOX fresh fuel package developed in the United States.

PacTec maintains strong relationships within the DOE in general and within the Hanford site in particular.

Focused application of PacTec’s creative skills and problem solving abilities to facilitate the safe handling & transport of nuclear materials: cask and canister handling systems onsite transfer and transport packages NRC/DOT licensed packages specialty tooling and handling equipment.
