Commercial
PacTec
is
widely recognized as a premier supplier of radioactive
materials packaging, cask drop analyses and mitigation
devices as well as technical services to the commercial
nuclear industry. In fact, 70% of the steel and lead
commercial nuclear waste casks in service today were
deigned, certified and fabricated by the Transnuclear/PacTec
companies and their direct predecessors. Collectively the
companies pioneered the development and use of polyurethane
foam impact limiter technologies, commencing more than three
decades ago. Now widely used throughout the industry, the
material and companion process control techniques are rooted
in technologies nurtured by PacTec/TN.
The
company's expertise in development and licensing of unique
transportation packages and systems has been the springboard
to our support of decommissioning activities. For example,
PacTec supported qualification of the reactor vessel as a
transportation package for both the Trojan and more recently
Haddam Neck reactor sites.
